Ltltoe (pronounced “little toe”) is an eco-friendlier goods delivery startup business, serving Tucson and adjacent communities, with a name that is a double entendre and climate change metaphor. Ltltoe uses an economy car and small tow trailer, as needed, for size appropriate deliveries to lessen the associated environmental footprint from what it otherwise might be.
For size appropriate items such as appliances, equipment, & furnishings (collectively, “goods”), using an eco-friendlier vehicle pulling a small tow trailer when necessary. Though new product business is welcome, serving consumer resale markets is of particular interest because resale markets are also eco-friendlier, support a more resilient and robust local economy, and better utilize resources already available in our community.
Electric vehicles powered by renewable energy are the future. Until then, ltltoe will use only Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) top 10 rated SmartWay vehicles. These vehicles are more fuel efficient and produce a lower amount of harmful greenhouse gas emissions than more common alternative delivery vehicles.
Before contacting, please know ahead of time the item(s’) description, weight, and dimensions (height, length, width/depth) and the nearest major crossroads for both pickup and delivery locations. Please also know your preferred date and times, and any flexibility you have with them.
Loading, securing, moving, and unloading assistance. Travel is generally restricted to paved streets or graded roads. Freeways and highways are avoided as much as possible.
If more than 1 person is needed for the move, the customer and/or customer’s able acquaintance(s) provide the +1 helper(s). Pickup and delivery circumstances are like delivery of mail and packages. In other words, challenges (pets, lockouts, narrow openings, stairs, tight corners, etc) that ltltoe is not responsible for may exceed ltltoe’s service scope and/or result in additional delivery cost.
Assembly, disassembly, electrical, or plumbing (dis)connections, and other similar ready for transport or final use services are generally outside the scope of ltltoe’s services. Entering and exiting buildings will only occur after mutual agreement. All of this must be established prior to the provision of services.
Maximum weight is about 500 lbs (272 kgs). Maximum height, length, and width/depth (back to front) dimensions generally are 60” x 60” x 39” [152 cm x 152 cm x 99 cm], respectively.
If an item is near the maximum weight or size, only 1 item can be transported at a time which can negate environmental benefits.
There is a prepaid minimum of $30.00, plus a $20.00 prepaid deposit that is refundable once transport is complete as scheduled.
Final cost, only if it exceeds the $30.00 minimum, is calculated on both miles and minutes rounded up to the nearest whole mile or minute. Miles equal the distance traveled between the pickup and delivery locations, avoiding freeways and highways when prudent. Minutes are calculated starting from initial pickup location arrival to final delivery location departure.
Miles and minutes costs will be calculated at $0.80 each, with the final cost generally being the lower of the two calculations. Time delays that are unavoidable by ltltoe (for example: traffic jams and pickup or delivery delays) will result in using the higher of the two calculations.
Cancellations received less than 2 hours before the scheduled arrival time will result in full forfeiture of the deposit. The deposit is also fully forfeited if the goods to be delivered are so different from the description provided before arrival that safe delivery is not practical.
The goal of ltltoe is to reduce a delivery’s environmental “footprint” compared to common delivery alternatives. Achieving and measuring this goal requires simple forethought. If a small trailer will work, instead of a pickup truck or van, we are on the right track.
A delivery alternative to ltltoe must be compared to ltltoe to measure environmental footprint reduction. For example, if the ltltoe vehicle is twice as fuel efficient as the alternative delivery vehicle, but ltltoe’s miles traveled are twice as far, then no footprint reduction is achieved. With your help, ltltoe will calculate this simple measure of footprint reduction.
Each gallon of gas conserved, weighing about 6 lbs, eliminates about 20 lbs of excess CO2 emissions.
